Indications of Rising Fuel Prices Strengthen

The plan to increase the price of fuel, LPG and electricity rates was conveyed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM)
Arifin Tasrif in a working meeting at Commission VII DPR, in Jakarta. According to Arifin, the assumption of Indonesia's crude oil price (ICP) in the 2022 state budget is US$63 per barrel, far below the real price which in March 2022 was US$98.4 per barrel. Meanwhile, the contract price of gas (CP Aramco) for LPG is 839.6 US dollars per tonne, an increase from the beginning of the year which was around 569 US dollars per ton. “In the medium term, our strategy is to adjust the price of pertalite, diesel, and accelerate the replacement of fuel. For example, gas fuel or bioethanol. The adjustment of subsidized fuel prices will follow the economic price," said Arifin. For gas fuel, said Arifin, one of the government's medium-term strategies is to increase the retail selling price. He believes that this method can reduce pressure on the state budget. This strategy will also be followed by a direct LPG subsidy scheme to users who are entitled to be subsidized. The government also plans to increase electricity tariffs as a short-term strategy to respond to the impact of rising world oil prices. He confirmed that the plan will be carried out this year. Potential savings in compensation if electricity tariffs are increased by Rp 7 trillion to Rp 16 trillion. Responding to the plan, Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII DPR Eddy Soeparno said that the government needs to detail the plan to increase the price of pertalite, diesel, LPG, and electricity tariffs along with the timing of their realization. Such details are important because they relate to the impact that will be felt by the community and the industrial sector.

Beware of Early Increase in Cases Daily case

Covid-19 in Indonesia on Wednesday (13/4/2022) increased by 1,551 cases,
an increase compared to the previous day's 1,455 cases. However, compared to Wednesday (6/4/2022) last week with 2,400 cases, there was a significant decrease. This daily addition of cases mainly occurred in Jakarta, which doubled to 699 new cases after a few days earlier it was in the range of 200-300 new cases. Previously, the Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that the weekly Covid-19 confirmed cases in Indonesia had decreased significantly. If the previous week about 3,000 cases, currently around 2,500 cases. Case deaths also decreased by 33 percent compared to the previous week. Likewise, the occupancy rate for hospital care and isolation is 6.67 percent. Meanwhile, the weekly positive rate is 4.6 percent and the daily positive rate is 3 percent or below the World Health Organization (WHO) maximum threshold of 5 percent. know that there is indeed an increase in Covid-19 cases in Java and Bali, or it is still a variation of weekly data that is not impossible to change again. "We need to increase surveillance activities, such as tests, syndromic surveillance, and also genome sequencing in order to obtain more precise data with the conditions in the field," said Tjandra. He also reminded that we must remain vigilant and observe and analyze in depth how cases develop in the days to come.

Fix Public Communication to Overcome the Pandemic

The results of the Kompas R&D survey in July showed that 60.7 percent of respondents believed the government would be able to overcome the pandemic.
Only 36.4 percent of respondents are not sure that the government will succeed in controlling Covid-19. Judging from the course of public assessments in the past year, the trend of the confidence figure tends to be sloping down. However, the confidence figure is still positive and still higher than the assessment in October 2020. At that time, the confidence level was only 55.6 percent with the respondents' uncertainty being the same as today. This means that the current level of public confidence is still better. One of the urgent things to do is to optimize the management of communication to the public. The reason is, according to a lecturer in political communication at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN), Gun Gun Heryanto, there is a tendency to decrease the level of public confidence in the government in controlling the pandemic, one of which occurs because the management of public communications is not yet optimal. There is a tendency for the narratives presented by officials to trigger unnecessary debate. A public policy observer from the University of Indonesia, Agus Pambagio, added that now it is also necessary to reform the basic legal aspects in making policies to handle the Covid-19 pandemic. "The name of the policy has changed so that it confuses the public," he said.

Government Increases Sinovac Vaccine Supply Again

In the midst of international attention regarding the efficacy of the Sinovac vaccine,
the Indonesian government has again brought in Sinovac raw materials. The government has imported 21.2 million doses of Sinovac raw materials. This step is taken by the government as an effort to prepare for the supply of the vaccination program starting next month. In addition to Sinovac, the government also continues to try to import finished corona vaccines from other manufacturers through various means to meet domestic vaccine needs. Not long ago, Indonesia had received 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine from the United States government. "The government ensures the safety, quality and efficacy or efficacy for all types of vaccines obtained," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. This is because Indonesia needs 208 million people who are vaccinated to achieve communal resilience or herd immunity. So far, Indonesia has brought in 122.73 million doses of the corona vaccine in finished form and raw materials.

Including the Delta variant, which yesterday caused a significant increase in cases in the last 3 weeks," said Nadia in a virtual discussion broadcast via YouTube FMB9ID_ IKP, Nadia said that until now there is no scientific evidence or medical journals that say certain types of vaccines are no longer effective. In fact, the WHO, said Nadia, encourages the acceleration of Covid-19 vaccination so that group immunity or herd immunity is formed. Private Actors Need Certainty on New Capital Relocation Regulations

Regulations regarding the relocation of the nation's capital city from Jakarta to North Penajam Paser and Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan are still considered unclear.
The private sector believes that the construction of the national capital, which is projected to take place in the long term, requires a national consensus to ensure business certainty. This was stated by the Chairman of the Indonesian Real Estate Organization (REI) Advisory Board, Soelaeman Soemawinata. According to him, the relocation and development of the nation's capital city (IKN) will take decades to hundreds of years and cross several periods of government. “A national consensus is needed across several government periods. There must be clarity from the start, both in terms of policy, technical, and financial aspects," he said in the online discussion "Measuring the Risks of New Town Development IKN", organized by the Indonesian Association of Planning Experts (IAP). Soelaeman explained that the stages of IKN development require the integration of five dimensions, including regulations, infrastructure and resources, spatial planning, investment, and the creation of new lives.

The increase in Covid-19 cases has encouraged companies under the auspices of Entrepreneurs Caring for the Republic of Indonesia to strengthen the national movement for convalescent plasma donors.
“Strict medical requirements for donors make public participation also limited. However, we are trying to make this method widely known, so that more and more Covid-19 survivors understand it, and are motivated to donate their plasma. One of the steps we have taken is to partner with companies under the umbrella of Entrepreneurs Caring for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said Sinar Mas Managing Director, Saleh Husin when the donation took place at Sinar Mas Land Plaza. As many as 15 donors, apart from Sinar Mas employees, also came from PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk, PT Djarum and Triputra Group who passed the screening conducted by the medical team of the Sinar Mas branch of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation from 60 survivors who previously registered themselves. Saleh Husin hopes that the company's participation can accelerate the socialization and education of convalescent plasma donors, as well as expand the reach of its benefits in the community. "The solidarity of these survivors is a concern and an effort to help others, especially when the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise," said Saleh, who as a survivor, also donated plasma.

The Association of Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industries (GIMNI) asks for certainty on revisions to palm oil export levies

The palm oil industry players are waiting for the government's decision regarding the export levy (PE)
which is planned to be revised and hopes that the policy will be taken quickly so that speculation and profit-taking will not occur which will have an impact on the industry and farmers. "Gimni welcomes any final decision from the government because it has considered all inputs from our palm oil industry players, both from the upstream side of plantations and the downstream industry," said Chairman of the Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (Gimni) Bernard Riedo. Bernard said that the plan to change export levy tariffs should be realized immediately in order to provide certainty to market players, in order to avoid speculative actions and take profit positions in buying and selling transactions that could have a negative impact on prices. Since the announcement of the planned change in levy rates, prices tend to show a downward trend because demand for CPO, especially exports, has decreased, he added, one of the factors is because market players are waiting for the revised PE tariff, which is planned to be lower. "Uncertainty has led to wait and see steps in the market. This situation is very unfortunate because it can have a negative impact on prices," he said. For information, the price of FFB in North Sumatra fell by Rp. 96/kilogram to Rp. 2,399/kilogram. On the Bursa Malaysia Derivative Exchange, the price of CPO for August 2021 delivery fell five percent to RM4,029/ton.

Tangerang Regency is Assessed as a New Area for Prospective Property Development

The increase in land prices in new growth centers around Jakarta is considered extraordinary.
Consumer expectations that are too high also make prices move out of control. South Tangerang, Banten, is the area outside Jakarta (debotebek) where land prices are the most expensive. For example, in BSD City, in one year the land price increases by almost 50%-100%. Sinar Mas Land, the developer of BSD City, priced the land more or less the same. Commercial lots in the de Park area are sold for IDR 17 million - IDR 19 million per m2. In the CBD 55 BSD City area, a plot of 5,142 m2 is currently offered for Rp. 22 million per m2. In several other new cities, such as Gading Serpong and Alam Sutera, the price is also the same. "From the latest observations in the second half of 2020, the estimated average land price in South Tangerang is IDR 16.2 million per square meter," said Lini Djafar, Managing Director of Cushman and Wakefield Indonesia. Lini said that the increase in land prices in the South Tangerang area, starting from the Pondok Aren-Pondok Jagung-Serpong corridor, is common because the area is already busy and lively. "In addition to access, population and facilities that are already crowded, good area management by developers also reflects the price of the property. So, it is quite reasonable if the price is higher than other areas in the west of Jakarta, such as Tangerang Regency, for example," said Lini. The prospect of future access, he continued, is also still good with the construction of the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road, the West-East MRT plan and the Balaraja-Soekarno-Hatta Airport toll road plan.

South Sumatra and Jambi Perform Weather Modification Technology Seedlings of 10 tons of Salt in the Air

The provinces of South Sumatra and Jambi have started a Weather Modification Technology (TMC) program by sowing 10 tons of salt in the air as an effort to prevent forest and land fires (karhutla)
The Commander of the Indonesian Air Force Base, Colonel PnB Hernawan Widhianto in Palembang, Thursday, said that the Air Task Force for Handling the South Sumatra Forest and Land Fires had prepared a Cassa C212 aircraft imported from Abdul Rachman Saleh Air Base to oversee the TMC program for the next 15 days. "We also prepared 11 crew consisting of experienced pilots who used to do TMC and operate reconnaissance aircraft," said Hernawan after the opening ceremony of TMC activities in South Sumatra and Jambi.
