Sinovac Will Release a Powerful Vaccine Against Omicron Next Month

Sinovac Biotech confirmed it is working on a Covid-19 vaccine capable of fighting the Omicron variant. This vaccine will be a booster for the CoronaVac vaccine.

Vice President of Sinovac Biotech (Hong Kong) Ltd. Weining Meng said that related to Covid-19 his party was working hard to produce a vaccine that could fight this variant, which was first identified in South Africa. "We already have several updates. New data will be available soon. As a vaccine developer, it is our duty to provide solutions for the community," he said at the Webinar Indonesia Congress Symposium on Combating COVID_19 Pandemic without Boundaries, Weining Meng targets to be able to distribute vaccines capable of against this omicron by the end of February 2022. "We are waiting for the results of clinical trials in February, and the vaccine in large commercial quantities will be ready for distribution by the end of February," he explained. Weining Meng is optimistic that this vaccine booster will play a significant role in ending the transmission of the omicron variant of Covid-19 in the world. Previously, an initial study conducted by the University of Hong Kong with three doses of Sinovac vaccine was not effective against the Omicron variant because it did not produce sufficient virus-neutralizing antibodies.
