The increase in Covid-19 cases in Bodetabek is getting out of control

University of Indonesia epidemiologist Tri Yunis Miko said the soaring increase in Covid-19 cases in the Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi areas indicated the spread of the Omicron variant was starting to spread.
However, the handling of cases so far still has weaknesses because there is no definite data on the distribution portion of the Omicron variant and other variants in the Jakarta buffer area. The goal, so that the spread of Omicron can be monitored. "If you look at the declining death rate, this means that the distribution of cases is more of the Omicron variant. However, you can't assume. If we fight the enemy, we must know this enemy for sure," said Miko. Miko also asked the Covid-19 Handling Task Force to evaluate the current implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM) in the Bodetabek area. Evaluation to change the status of PPKM is increasingly urgent because controlling cases without changing policies is not considered serious. Based on data from the Bekasi City Covid-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPCPEN), active cases in the area until February 5, 2022 reached 10,124 active cases. Of that number, there are 9,721 cases who are undergoing self-isolation and 403 cases are being treated in hospital. In Bogor City, cases also continued to increase and reached a record high during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on data from the Bogor City Health Office in February 2022, the number of positive Covid-19 confirmations reached 336 cases. That number jumped again and reached 741 cases.
