Take advantage of the opportunity to fix the job creation law

Currently, Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and Law Number 12 of 2011 concerning the Formation of Legislation (PPP) have been included in the list of the 2022 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
and the House of Representatives will first revise the PPP Law. This step was taken to respond to the decision of the Constitutional Court on November 25, 2021, which stated that the Job Creation Law was formally flawed and conditionally unconstitutional. Lawmakers were also given two years to revise the Job Creation Act. If within two years there is no improvement, the law will be declared unconstitutional permanently. In the Kompas Collaboration Forum event which was held online by Kompas Daily and was attended by CEOs of a number of companies joining this forum, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government was preparing an academic text for the new Job Creation Law. Regarding the direction of the revision of the Job Creation Law, Airlangga said, there are four issues that are being studied in collaboration with several universities, namely manpower, forestry, environment, and land (agrarian). "Those are the four things that are most highlighted by the public," he said. Head of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Economics Department Yose Rizal Damuri assessed that the Constitutional Court's decision could be used as an opportunity to fix structural economic reforms. Substantial improvements are needed to adjust Indonesia's economic transformation steps to be more in line with the principles of economic development that are inclusive, sustainable, and with a global perspective (outward-looking). Currently, a number of substances in the Job Creation Law are still problematic because they can have a negative impact on environmental sustainability and community welfare.
