It turns out that the high price of oil is not enjoyed by palm farmers

General Secretary (Sekum) of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Peasants Union (SPI), Agus Ruli said the national Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in January 2022 was 108.67, up 0.30 percent compared to the previous month.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the increase in national NTP in January 2022 was due to an increase in the Price Index Received by Farmers (lt) by 0.81 percent, which was higher than the decrease in the Price Index Paid by Farmers (lb) by 0.50 percent. Agus continued, although BPS recorded a positive upward trend, reports from SPI members in several regions stated that there was a decline in the price of palm Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) in the field. “In areas where plantations are concentrated, such as North Sumatra, Riau, and West Sumatra, SPI members noted a decline in the type of palm oil commodity. Even in Kampar, Riau, at the end of January the price of FFB had dropped by Rp. 1,000 per kg," he said. Agus Ruli emphasized that even though the price of cooking oil has skyrocketed, many palm oil farmers are not enjoying it. The reason is starting from the price of production facilities, such as fertilizer at the kiosk level, which rises at an unreasonable price. This has an impact on increasing production costs for oil palm farmers.
