Women-20 Will Focus on Four Women's Issues

Women-20, a community group involved in the G-20 presidency, will focus on discussing four issues to support women's empowerment and gender equality.
The results of the discussion will be compiled into recommendations and submitted to the G-20 forum. The first issues discussed during the G-20 presidency were discrimination and equality. Women-20 (W-20) assesses that inequality and discrimination prevent women from participating in the economy. In fact, women's participation is important for economic recovery, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. “This issue has actually been discussed in the previous presidency, but it still arises despite years of struggle. We will promote prosperity, security, and equality by eliminating discrimination and inequality," said W-20 Indonesia Co-Chair Dian Siswarini at an online press conference. The second issue discussed by the W-20 was economic inclusion. Then, the third issue is about the condition of marginalized women, namely women with disabilities and women who live in the outermost, underdeveloped, and frontier areas (3T), as well as the fourth issue related to health. The issues discussed by the W-20 will be compiled into recommendations, then submitted to the G-20 forum. These recommendations are expected to be the basis for the formation of policies with a gender perspective.
