Minister of Religion Issues Guidelines for Using Loudspeakers

Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas issued guidelines governing the use of loudspeakers in mosques and prayer rooms.
This rule is contained in the Circular (SE) of the Minister of Religion No. 05/2022 concerning Guidelines for Using Loudspeakers in Mosques and Musala. The Minister of Religion said that the use of loudspeakers in mosques and prayer rooms is a necessity for Muslims as one of the media to spread Islam in the community. At the same time, Indonesian people are also diverse, in terms of religion, belief, background, and others. Thus, efforts are needed to maintain brotherhood and social harmony. "The guidelines are issued as an effort to improve peace, order, and harmony among community members," said Minister of Religion Yaqut. Circulars issued February 18, 2022 were addressed to the head of the Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religion, the head of the Regency/Municipal Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Office, the Head of the Sub-District Religious Affairs Office, chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council, Chair of the Indonesian Mosque Council, leaders of Islamic community organizations, and takmir/managers of mosques and prayer rooms throughout Indonesia. As a copy, this circular is also addressed to all governors and regents/mayors throughout Indonesia.
