Private Can Enter Electricity Transmission Business, Rules Prepared!

The government, namely the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will hold a 'red carpet' for private companies to be able to do business in electricity transmission in Indonesia.
Currently, the rules regarding the private sector to enter the transmission business are being prepared. The Director of Electricity Business Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ida Nuryatin Finahari, explained that the legal umbrella for the regulation of electricity transmission by private companies will be finalized this year. "Regulations are currently preparing the utilization of the electric power network through a private company scheme, including for this cross-country," explained Ida. "That's what we are preparing, how PLN and the private sector can contribute together in preparing the network. Especially across countries and we are preparing regulations and schemes," Ida continued. Regulations for private companies can enter the electricity transmission business, said Ida. It is targeted to be completed in Semester I-2022. "As soon as possible in 2022, if possible in the first semester, and we will accelerate the completion," explained Ida.
